3 Key ingredients

No Bull From Your Pit believes in 3 key ingredients to becoming a successful dog owner.
1) Exercise
2) Discipline
3) Affection
All dogs, be it large like a Great Dane or as small like a Yorkshire Terrier need and require exercise. Exercise is not only good for their health and well being, but it is the first step to to successful obedience training. Exercise allows your dog to focus and release pent up energy, therefore making them willing and ready to be responsive to any obedience training you are using. Let's not forget it's excellent for us, humans too!
The next key is discipline and structure. Your dog requires this. They crave and expect to have a pack leader and as their owner you have to train yourself o be their pack leader and follow through. Learning proper discipline and structure makes you and your dog a success with training. What we call being a "good citizen."
Last but certainly not least is affection. Your dog is a part of your family. As you would give affection to your child, you would give your dog the same. They love to be loved. Who doesn't? Be careful, though. Affection without the first two keys Exercise and Discipline, can be a sure fire way to guarantee a badly behaved family member.
Remember, all three of these keys your dog sees as affection. The count on you, as you count on them.
for pit's sake
The American Pit Bull Terrier's reputation is ridiculous and for some, heart breaking. The media will have you believe that this breed was bred to be vicious and mean.
This is unfortunate and in most cases, irresponsible journalism.
The pit bull loves people and is an absolute loving family dog. Are there aggressive pit bulls? Sure. But because of irresponsible breeders and owners.
Every breed of dog can be aggressive. Each individual dog has it's own distinct personality which is shaped by socialization, training and affection whether incorrectly or correctly applied.
People forget, all dogs come from the exact same ancestor; the wolf. Through breeding over centuries of time is how we now have our furry family companions. Sure each breed has certain characteristics, but it takes a loving and responsible pet parent to make sure their dog is a good citizen and family member.
No Bull From Your Pit loves all dogs but the American Pit Bull Terrier holds a special place in our hearts.
We hope you'll help us support this wonderful breed.
is the bully breEd right for you?
When searching for that one special dog to be a part of your family you should ask yourself, "Is this breed right for me and my family?" The truth is that if you don't do the research on your chosen breed, it can potentially be a bad living situation for you and your dog. If you love bully breeds, like we do, consider these helpful facts and advice before offering your home to a bully breed.
1) Most large breed dogs, especially your bully's (American Pit Bull Terrier, Boxer, Bull Terrier, etc.) require DAILY exercise. Now, most people think that letting their dog run in his back yard as exercise. It is and it isn't. He may burn off some energy, but not as much as he will on a structured walk. All dogs need structured daily walks or hikes with their pack leader to be healthy and happy. If you are not an active person, a bully breed may not be right for you.
2) Socialization is a must for these breeds. You'll need to start at a very young age. Your dog needs to learn to be "socially polite" and get used to other dogs and outside environments so that they don't develop aggressive behaviors. This can be said for all breeds. Make sure you socialize your dog with children, as well. This is good for the dog and the child to learn boundaries and comfort zones.
3) Are you dedicated to the time and training needs that our dog will require? Bully breeds need structure and discipline, but they also require a pack leader. Without your dedication to them and their training needs, they don't have a chance to be a loving, well behaved family member the want to be.
4) Are you able to provide the proper veterinary care for your new dog? With any dog this is an important question. Be prepared to make sure your dog receives the regular and sometimes emergency care they need and deserve.
5) Will you be there to always support and educate people around you about your bully breed? Be prepared for some of the public to react negatively towards your dog. Bully breeds need our help to educate and spread accurate knowledge about their true being and loving personalities. We can do this by having well trained dogs out in public. They need loving owners who will properly train and care for them so that we can change the unwanted reputations.
Unfortunately, there are still so many people out there that only carry the inaccurate information they receive from irresponsible journalism.
Good Luck and I hope that a bully breed is right for your home and family!
